Yuriy Sivirin "Black Mirror"

For the first time, the Bereznitsky Art Foundation presents Yuri Sivirin's unique project "Black Mirror" - a retrospective of works created over the past 5 years.

The significance of Yuri Syvyryn for the modern Ukrainian art scene is difficult to overestimate. The artist has implemented many personal projects and participated in group ones, which were presented in iconic exhibition spaces. Resonant exhibitions were held in the exhibition halls of the National Museum "Kyiv Art Gallery" on Tereshchenkovskaya, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Odessa, Bereznitsky Private Space and others. He participated in the main and parallel projects of Kyiv Art Week, the Burn Babylon project (GogolFest) and the Media Dependence project (Ukrainian House), which also featured works by such influential Ukrainian postmodernists as Arsen Savadov, Oleksandr Hnylytsky and others. The artist's works are in well-known private collections of Ukraine, in the collection of the Isolation Foundation, belong to members of the Club of Collectors of Contemporary Art of Ukraine, as well as in the collections of a number of museums in Ukraine and private Western collections.

Yuri Siviryn - a bright representative of the "post-media" line in painting, a kind of "painting montage" of non-existent ... The artist finds his images not in reality, but in the archives of media images and social media feeds. Or he resorts to an even more radical and exciting substitution of reality - he takes them from the film archive of phantoms of never-before-seen events (Victoria Burlaka).

The artist finds himself in a state of mutually exclusive and intense mental experiences. His path is the "Black Mirror" of new information technologies. It attracts, but at the same time frightens and repulses - it is a fear of chaos and unpredictability. Yuri Siviryn tries to call a spade a spade and exposes his wounds. "What is time?" - the main question that worries the author. "And are there others like me who are just as painfully experiencing the flickering and disappearance of meanings and images?" - Sivirin's work on the search for compassion and understanding.

He, like all of us, has to live in a mode of constant information trauma and attacks. But he does not hesitate to share his unique experience of survival in the mirror - he has an open conversation about the meaning of his life and ours with you ... (Lyudmila Bereznytska)

"I've always been interested in human quirks. Why intelligent people act inconsistently, losing moral principles. The question is rhetorical ... But I constantly try to answer it in my works. "Emotions" and "ratio" are constantly in conflict and interpenetration. My works are about the complexity of life, although the goal is to defuse the situation, to give hope and meaning to a person" – emphasizes the artist Yuriy Sivirin.
