Bereznitsky Art Foundation proudly presents a new project - “OPEN REVIEW"
We are keen to showcase works by students from the Department of Scenography and Multimedia at the National Academy of Fine Arts and Architecture, created over the past year under the supervision of lecturers Yuriy Syvyryn and Lyudmyla Bereznitskaya.
We are launching «OPEN REVIEW» as an open academic review held in a gallery space. Here, collectors, art lovers, visitors and colleagues will not be constrained by academic criteria, but will be able to express their subjective perception of a work in a public space open to all.
We have also taken into account that the works were created within the walls of academic studios, where most of the artists were creating their works simultaneously, influencing one another. At the same time, each of them was seeking their own personal style, and it is precisely this that we can see at the exhibition. It is a unique demonstration of the process of interaction within the creative circle of the student community.
The most interesting and topical works by eight students from the Department of Scenography and Multimedia were selected for public viewing: Yuliia Popika, Yaroslava Ivanchuk, Anna Kuzniak, Yeva Mysnyk, Ivan Bereshchenko, Anastasiia Lysenko, Sofia Naumchuk and Natalia Franko.
All the works demonstrate the candid reflections of these young and talented artists on war, political strife, struggle as a means of resistance and a path to victory, as well as a desire to find harmony within their personal lives, in poetry, in their imaginations and in their creative work.
The works reveal a keen interest in the human figure and its interaction with space. In many pieces, the body appears not as a tranquil image, but as a site of conflict, collision, immersion or transformation. It may be fragmented, compressed, engulfed by a group, dissolved into its surroundings, or confronted by an invisible force. Space in these works is not merely a passive backdrop either. It functions as a stage, a body of water, a chamber, a trap, a ritual field, or a psychological construct.
We believe that such participation is important for young artists. It is not only an experience of entering the professional art world, where one can encounter critical perspectives, find like-minded people, professional partners and collectors. But also of stepping into the gallery space – a professional arena where art transforms into the living fabric of the artistic process, becomes institutionalised and begins to influence the aesthetic dimension of public life.
For the Bereznitsky Art Foundation, this project also represents a continuation of its important mission – to support young Ukrainian artists. In this context, the gallery becomes not merely a venue for exhibitions, but a platform of trust: in young art, in the artist’s creative development, and in the future of Ukrainian visual culture. «OPEN REVIEW» is an invitation to discover young artists at a time when their artistic language is still taking shape, yet already possesses the strength and legitimacy to exist.
