Bereznitsky Art Foundation proudly presents a new project by
Artem Deineka - “I`m Scared Too"
This project explores vulnerability as a state that becomes almost impossible within conditions of constant tension and social expectations, particularly those related to ideals of strength and male roles. The series combines human figures and animals, allowing cultural layers to be stripped away and returning to fundamental states – fear, dependency, and the need for protection. Within this field, humans and animals appear equal in their defenselessness.
There is a persistent sense of tension – a state in which danger may not have a clear form, but is experienced by the body as continuous anxiety, anticipation, and a life «under constant watch».
Particular attention is given to masculinity – the conflict between the necessity to conform to an image of strength and the inability to fully conceal one’s fear and need for support. The use of pink tones, silk, and intimate motifs forms a visual language that softens traditional notions of masculinity and opens a space for vulnerability. In this context, the project also reflects a broader condition of global loneliness, where limited possibilities for deep connection only intensify the human need for warmth, closeness, and mutual understanding.
«I’m scared too» captures the state of a person who is afraid but forced to appear strong – and therefore experiences an even stronger need for closeness, especially in conditions of war.
